I need to beat factions/proph for the 3rd time on my necro
need to beat nf still for the first time on my smiter
I need to do more AB cause its so much fun
I need to max out my material storage just for the hell of it
I need to get more gold cause 720k isnt enough
I need to get weps and insignias for all my heros, I need to lvl my heros
I need to help out the 1 other active person in my guild
i need to unlock items/skills by using faction or ID kits, or buying them
I need to lvl my elementalist, I still need to beat all 3 games on my elementalist
I need to come up with better, brighter, new builds for my W/r and W/e, and thats just the stuff I can think of right now, im sure im missing more.

all this from a guy with a crappy inactive guild (that i lead), and that doesnt do most of the pvp, and that doesnt farm. (hell, i have 720k and i still use 1.5k armor and collector weps).
so...how are you bored? -_- take some time and enjoy the game
Well I'd say go back and read the first 10 pages, but somehow I think the whole meaning behind this post will get lost on you.

I thought NightFall was good, but I am bored of it. It reminds me of a very good single player RPG, one you play through once or twice, have a muck around with then put back onto the shelf and move onto the next offering without really looking back. Really the only thing that saves NightFall from obscurity is it inheriting the GW online community.

I actually go back to Factions and Prophecies for when I'm bored.

I hate having too many mini-quests. Whoever thought of them first should be shot. I remember when I first came across them in Divine Divinity, bleh. How about fewer quests and more on implementing other activites, e.g trading, PvP, farming, those life skills that were mentioned?

Quests are an essential part of these types of games and I think it is wounderful to have more of them this chapter, with good exp finally. They provide storyline and enjoyment of playing.

And you want to get rid of them?

Strange

I don't mind them, just not so many. I've finished the game and done a fair number of quests but still have 21 more quests to do, and some will lead to other quests. After I'll need to rinse and repeat for my other characters.

As some other people have said, there are only so many times a person can run from point A -> B , or kill a mob of monsters before it gets dull. The main missions give a good idea on what's going on, I don't really need to do umpteen quests investigating the land becoming corrupted, when they all involve travelling to point A or more, and killing some mob. Just one or two would be fine.

So what's stopping you from doing "only one or two"? You don't have to do any of the mini-quests. They're not required to complete the game. You want less, so then just do less, there ya go.

Point taken. I guess if people like the number of them then that's fair enough. For me seeing them sitting in my quest log compells me to finish them all off at some point. *sighs* sharpens sword for another round of killing.

I just wonder if enough people are happy with the number of them, so A.Net still devote time to creating them instead of working on other things. Less people working on creating more quests is more on an auction house, storage, testing, bug fixing, and at releases every 6 months it seems apretty tight. But I guess that's another topic.

Well, I feel ya on that. I personally like the quests in NF, and it doesn't bother me as much. But I do remember going through Factions, bored as sin with the quests, and just looking at my quest log, sighing. So what did I do? Well, I abandoned the whole lot of them. Then, I actually read what the quests were about before accepting them, and if it sounded stupid, or the reward wasn't good enough (all too often), I didn't hit "I'll do it!" or whatever.

The rewards are my major issue with quests. In all honesty, although I think the quests are somewhat fun, it would be a blast to actually get useful rewards more often! For instance, on those quests that lead to another, then another, and even another quest, have the last quest give a good chunk of gold, like 2-5 plat. Master Difficulty quest? Have it give either a free Cap Sig, large chunk of gold, or a nice item/mod/inscription/insignia/rune, whatever... something with some use!

The rewards alone would make questing that much more fun. It's not like people could exploit them, either, since you can only do them once. Hell, repeatable random quests that give gold - it would be like farming, except you're actually playing instead of just killing.

NF is a pretty good chapter IMO but since it really is the same thing (as the core), it shouldn't be surprising that a number of us are bored. Sure there's tons of things to do, but perhaps they are no longer considered fun to do (true especially if you've already done them once or twice before). I know GW isn't an MMORPG in any case, perhaps if ANet tries to incorporate more 'MMORPG-like' features, GW will not only have more variety in its gameplay as well as attract more audience.

Lol, exactly the same for me except that I'm in 'observing' mode rather. Good day to you, fellow citizen of the tiny island.

One problem in nightfall is probably the points system, i.e. you can only go so far untill you get so many points in such and such a title, then you can continue.

I remember now... Getting lvl 2 heroes with tyrian/canthan chars and having to grind 2500 sunspear points in order to advance is just a personal turnoff for me.

With a large Nightfall update still to come, and their six monthly schedule, I wonder if they have enough people to do everything at a "relaxed" pace. I'd be happy to see some quests stripped back and fewer missions for more MMORPG like features (and variety). I actually thought the number of missions in Factions was okay, it was just the story that needed work.

I think I spoiled myself.
I should really have started Nightfall with my paragon, but my main character, my warrior, had 4/5 titles maxed and 180 skills capped, so I took it upon myself to get his "important" stuff out of the way first.
This meant that I capped every elite (except Ebon Dust Aura :E ), got Grandmaster Cartographer and Elonian Protector all in one go.

The prospect of going through the game again with a different character fills me with dread.
I started work on my paragon, but because I did absolutely everything in the preview event too, it's boring me silly. Also, I absolutely HATE having lowbie characters now having spent so much time with ultra-flexible level 20s with everything they need unlocked.

So I brought across my mesmer knowing that there's some really juicy elites to cap, but the prospect of grinding through the storyline again just to get to the areas I need to be in order to cap is less than appealing.

One thing that would keep me coming back was if elite caps were universal instead of character based. I really resent that having capped all of the skills, if I want to use them on another character I have to cap them all over again. I have 10 characters, one of each class for the gods' sakes!
There's no way in HELL I'm going to grind elites 10 times over >:E

So instead of the idea of repeating Nightfall being an exciting one, it's become the epitome of tedium and unnecessary grind in my eyes.
Why should I bother playing through again with a skill and level handicapped character when I can go back to my warrior and have instant fun?

I think I'll end up where I always end up; back in the Crystal Desert helping people for free...

Remember the rule number one you must obey to avoid boredom.

YOU MUST NOT FORCE YOURSELF TO PLAY IF YOU DON'T WANT TO!

I wish it was that easy, but how am I suppose to get worthless money and titles if I don't grind to the fullest minute of every hour?

The mindset is what makes it boring for me sometimes but it's not exactly easy to change a mindset you've had forever.

You know, it really is...Tired of hearing the word "nerf" every five minutes. I was bored once...burned myself out on it pushing forward too fast. AP47 is right, though. Just take a break. For those that claim they've done everything, you haven't. I've been on since day one and there is plenty for me to work on, and I play all the time. If you're just beating the campaigns and then waiting around for the next one to show up, then the game isn't what has problems, it's your midset about the game. Take some time to explore different aspects of Guild War's context.

And for the whole "quest thing"....if you don't like them, don't do them. Problem solved.

Hmmmz... Maybe we should have a poll on how many are bored, how many aren't. We can probably start with the following question/choices:

Question: Are you bored playing Guild Wars (taking all chapters into account)?
- OMG, are you kidding? /havingfun
- I'm getting on fine /stillokay
- I think I'll get bored pretty soon /notokay
- I'm bored /bored
- I'm quitting /quit

I'd say we should have an anonymous poll if anyone can start one somewhere, it'd help avoid alot of unneccessary flaming going on in here. If not, we could use the emotes i've given.

/bored
